Early comments about COURAGE OF THE LONELY:

‘Already listened to Nickel & Dime record twice – during that terrifying drive home last night and this morning.  Enjoy the album and your singing. Dig the title track and How Can I Let You Go? – sorry, CD in car.  Well produced, Players are great. The songs are strong. It’s there. It’s a really is a good album. Band is great.

- Carter Alan (ZLX, author)

‘I am listening and really liking the direction. Your vocal chops are great and the songs, as always, have something to say. ....three songs seem to surfacing for me.  I THINK I'M FALLIN, COURAGE OF THE LONELY, and NEW YORK GIRL.

- Bill Pfordrescher (former A&R - Elektra)

‘Rick Berlin: true original’

- Joan Anderman (free lance writer. Field Day)

'I like the pacing and mix is solid and weaving the honky tonk and soaring guitar and Jane's piano very alive carnival of life. Really like it. Found myself bopping around right after 2 hernias surgery Ouch!'

- Jonathan Hummel (Former owner of Dimension Sound)

‘A couple songs in and i love it! how is he not famous???!? I’ve got his book on order also. Cant wait to read it.’

Dan daNikk Linich - Scars Blue bassist

‘I really like that New York Girl song a lot. It's funny because it reminds me Orchestra Luna at the beginning and Berlin airlift at other times. The girl in the video is great.’

'Keep meaning to tell you how much I dig The Courage of the Lonely CD. I don't have a working CD player in my car but I've had Beth's car a lot the last few weeks and it's the only CD in her car, so I've listened to it a lot. Really love NY Girl and Think I'm Falling. Both kinda remind me of old Berlin tunes. Also like The Sad Song tune at the end. Reminds me of Moe Tucker from the Velvet's singing I'm Sticking With You. Great production etc. Amazing how you've found a way to make trombone work in so many songs. One of my favorite NmD releases.'

- Matt York (Matt York Music)

‘Just one look from you keeps me from feeling dead’ (Tease Me) - Genius!’

- Dini Lamont (Human Sexual Response)

‘Particually love I Think, the title track and of course NEW YORK GIRL... Rick, you are so brilliant. This is a great piece of work... ps love Sad Songs.’

- Natalie Bonelli (Singer/Songwriter NYC)

‘Holy fuck this is brilliant. The production is  lush but clean and the songs are nuanced with humor and emotion so now i'm somewhere between Greil Marcus and Christian Bale in American Psycho (describing Phil Coillins and Huey Lewis) i'm blown the fuck away.

This body of work is important and you're still building it. I’m getting misty eyed. I absolutely love your new record.’

- Brian McCaffrey (Teenage Heart Records)

‘Man, this record sounds great. Your songs are written with so much heart, and the band is fantastic, and the production really showcases the performance in a great way....man, you just don't stop.’

- Drew Joy (Hip Hop artist, Brooklyn)
